A 70-year-old woman was killed and another person suffered serious personal injuries in a three-vehicle hit-and-run collision which happened at about 8:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Gilman Avenue and Jennings Street.

San Francisco police are looking for the driver of a 2002 Pontiac who ran away from the scene of the car crash in the Bayview District.

The Pontiac crashed into a 2003 Nissan pickup and also a 2001 Volkswagen Bug. The lady who was killed, 70-year-old Celsa-Lidia Moreno of South San Francisco, was riding in the Nissan pickup truck with another person who also suffered serious personal injuries. Because there was so much damage to the vehicles, there is absolutely no way this hit and run driver could not have known that he or she had caused serious injuries. As attorneys who handle auto crashes, we find that most of the hit and run accidents are caused by people who have no insurance or who have been drinking and that these people are often judgment proof anyway. Still, it is a cruel thing to lose a loved one to a motor vehicle collision and then also feel the sting of the heartlessness that a person must have to just leave an injured person behind, and not even call an ambulance. I sincerely hope they catch this person and make them accountable.
