Gerber recalled two popular lines of its organic cereal after reports of choking. Lumps in the company's organic rice and organic oatmeal may not dissolve properly in milk or water, creating a risk of choking. There is evidence Gerber learned of the risk six weeks ago, but just announced the recall this Friday. Already frustrated something as basic as food could cause their babies to suffer serious injuries or death, many parents have voiced concern that Gerber announced the recall too late. For additional information, read Gerber's press release.
